I had the cabbage and carrot salad, which was decent, though the dressing was a bit underwhelming compared to similar salads I've had elsewhere in Athens. I also ordered the grilled chicken, which came in a generous portion with fries. The chicken was well-seasoned and nicely cooked—the meat was tender throughout with no dry pieces. The outdoor seating location is nice and quiet, in a courtyard shaded by vegetation.

The food is surprisingly better than expected or than it looked in the photos. the felafel are nice, so as the burgers. Flies is a common issue in Greece

Found this place by chance while walking back to my apartment — such a lucky find! Mostly locals, which is always a good sign. Great prices, and huge portions. The lamb chops (450g!) were super tasty but too much for me to finish. The fava was also a great appetizer (nice with bread). Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic local food and great value!

It is very nice. Since 1926!, this iconic Greek traditional tavern brings you back in time. The food is simple but tasteful, like home...

Food was excellent. We had the sausage, pork chop and 1kg of lamb chops. The sausage was perfectly grilled where the casing just snapped, the pork chop was so juicy and almost falling apart, and the lamb chops were perfectly grilled with a nice char and nicely rendered fat. The Greek salad was the usual delicious affair with a large slice of feta, delicious. We got there at 10pm on a Sunday and it was really busy with only a few waiters. We had to wait a bit to order but the food came out extremely quick. They were even nice enough to order us a taxi back to the hotel. Overall, excellent food at an extremely reasonable price. My parents will be coming back when come back to Athens in a couple weeks!

One of the best TAVERNA around. It’s open since 1926. And the grilled lamp was great also, fried zucchini was very delicious.

Old Athens is located in the center of Pagkrati. The historic tavern of Karavitis offers to modern Athenians and tourists an authentic experience of simple, nice and easy Greek food based on meet. Don't miss the meat courses or even starters such as tzatziki or eggplant dip and enjoy the ambience of old Athens in the green terrace. Fast service, friendly staff!

The overall ambience felt pretty traditional and there was some live music. There is a lot of space as well which can be hand in Pagkrati these days if you can't find another place to sit. Meat was pretty tasty, and afterwards there were no adverse effects if you know what I mean. A decent choice in the area.
